Radikaa Sarathkumar turns 33!

You read it right! The dynamic movie and small screen personality just completed 33 years -- in showbiz! It seems like just yesterday that we laid eyes on the awkward young actress who could barely get her lines out! Look at her now. That young girl feels like another person in another lifetime, a true metamorphosis!

Although her brother (Radharavi) and father (M.R. Radha) were respected actors in the movie biz, Radikaa was a reluctant debutante when she starred in Bharathiraja’s Kizhake Pogum Rayil. This maiden was just 15 during her maiden performance; in spite of her initial apprehension, she continued and bloomed in the field that had found her. From one movie to the next, Radikaa showed radical improvement in terms of performance, hard work and dedication. In a matter of a few years she evolved into an actress to reckon with. With an amazing screen presence and a powerful persona, she is an actress who can intimidate even the most skilled veterans. And she’s not restricted herself to cinema. With a long list of supporting roles in films still coming her way, she is a busy TV actress-producer. Her production house Radaan Media Works has produced several successful serials, including the iconic 'Chitti' and current TV Topper 'Chellame'. Her serials are popular in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states (dubbed versions). Her media house has even produced a handful of movies, including Sarathkumar’s Jaggubai.

Some memorable Radikaa starrers (in Tamil) include Kizhake Pogum Rayil, Indru Poi Naalai Vaa, Pokkiri Raja, Ranga, Moondru Mugam, Thavani Kanavugal, Paer Sollum Pillai, Irattaivaal Kuruvi, Keladi Kanmani, Kizhakku Seemaiyile, Pavithra, Suryavamsam, Jeans, Roja Kootam.

Her husband Sarathkumar and good friend actor Abbas hosted a surprise party for Radikaa in Chennai, with elite guests like Rajni, Kamal, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Bhagyaraj, Suriya, Jyotika, Karthi, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Ramya Krishnan and several others. Each person came forward and shared their emotions about their friend, mentor and “Akka” Radikaa. We at Galatta congratulate her and wish her many more successful years in cinema.
