District Electoral Officer and Collector Venkatesh Dhotre stated that, in view of the 2nd General Panchayat Elections, the nomination process must be carried out properly. On Thursday, he visited the nomination reception center set up at the Vanakidi Mandal headquarters for the positions of Sarpanch and Ward Members of Vanakidi and Jambul Dhari Gram Panchayats. He examined the nomination papers and gave several instructions to the Stage-1 Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers.
During this visit, the District Electoral Officer and Collector said that:
In front of the nomination reception center, photo voter lists ward-wise and reservation details of the Gram Panchayat must be displayed.
No gatherings should be allowed within a 100-meter radius of the nomination center.
Only the candidates submitting nominations and their proposers should be permitted inside.
Care must be taken to ensure no crowding occurs near the nomination center.
He instructed that the entire nomination process must follow the rules issued by the Election Commission, including:
Receipt of nomination papers
Scrutiny of nominations
Declaration of candidates
Allotment of election symbols
All these steps should be carried out carefully without leaving any scope for mistakes.
