Hyderabad witnessed tense moments when a sudden fire broke out at the popular Sreekanya Comfort Restaurant located in Somajiguda. The incident occurred on the fifth floor of a commercial building that also houses GRT Jewellers on the fourth floor, raising concerns about the safety of staff, customers, and nearby establishments.
Thick Smoke Erupts From the Kitchen
According to initial reports, the fire originated in the restaurant’s kitchen area, triggering heavy smoke that quickly spread throughout the floor. Eyewitnesses noticed dense black smoke billowing out of the building, prompting immediate alerts to the fire department.
Two Fire Engines Rushed to the Spot
Firefighters responded swiftly, deploying two fire engines to control the situation. The teams worked intensely to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to other floors — especially the jewellery showroom below, which houses highly valuable inventory.
Evacuation and Safety Measures
Building occupants were reportedly evacuated as a precautionary measure. Authorities are still assessing the cause of the fire, though initial indications point toward a possible short circuit or overheating of kitchen equipment. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.
Traffic Slows in the Area
The incident led to brief traffic congestion in the busy Somajiguda zone as emergency teams cordoned off the area to manage the situation safely. Commuters were advised to take alternate routes until the fire was entirely brought under control.
Investigation Underway
Officials from the Fire Department are conducting a detailed inspection to determine the exact cause of the fire and evaluate compliance with fire safety norms. Further updates are expected once the assessment is complete.
